2022 - 2023 Middle School Social-Emotional, Wellness and Safety
Our district is committed to working together throughout the school year ahead to increase opportunities for all students to thrive academically and socio-emotionally within a rigorous and emotionally safe school environment. At the middle school level, social-emotional wellness is a key component that will help unlock each child’s abilities to thrive in our SMFCSD schools. As a result, we have come together as a school district and community to prioritize student safety in a systematic fashion. The following represent the four levels of support that our middle schools will be receiving on an ongoing basis with quality monitoring throughout the school year:
- District level support
- Support from new district personnel and resources will be directed to support middles schools
- Campus safety support
- Internal resources and practices will be implemented to increase safety across middle school campuses
- Engagement support
- Student voice and data (quantitative and qualitative) will be included to ensure we make informed decisions and changes to increase student safety
- Partnerships support
- Outreach to the community to increase parent and community participation
To learn more about specific strategies within each level of support, we invite you to carefully review the attached flier. The Student Services Department is devoting additional district resources to boost middle school climate and culture. We will remain closely engaged with middle school staff teams, families, and students at all times. These safety strategies are in direct alignment with our Strategic Plan goals.
Thank you very much for your partnership in collaborating with us to keep our students safe and focused for a successful school year ahead. Go SMFCSD!
