Communication
At SMFCSD, we believe that strong communication builds strong communities. The Communications Department is dedicated to fostering transparency, trust, and meaningful engagement between the District and the families, staff, and community members we serve.
The Communications Department oversees and manages a broad range of responsibilities, including:
- Community Relations and Strategic Partnerships: We build and maintain relationships with parents, local organizations, businesses, and civic leaders to strengthen our schools and expand opportunities for students.
- External Communication and Marketing: From branding to public outreach campaigns, we manage how the District presents itself to the public across various platforms, ensuring that our voice is clear and inclusive.
- Publications and Reporting: We produce and distribute essential District communications such as our monthly e-newsletter, press releases, annual reports, and other official documents that reflect our District’s goals and developments.
Media Access and Campus Visit Guidelines
We recognize and value the vital role that news media play in informing the public and sharing the stories of our schools. To support open communication while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students and staff, all media visits to school campuses must be coordinated through the Superintendent’s Office.
In accordance with Board Policy, all members of the media — including reporters, photographers, and videographers from print, digital, and broadcast outlets — are required to check in immediately at the school’s main office upon arrival. This procedure ensures a secure learning environment and minimizes disruptions to the school day, while maintaining our commitment to transparency and community engagement.
