MISSION AND VISION
MISSION
The SEDAC provides the district and Board of Trustees with recommendations on issues affecting students receiving special education services and their families. The SEDAC also provides a forum for special education stakeholders to exchange information and ideas, and gain support and resources.
VISION
The vision of the SEDAC is to engage a broad group of special education stakeholders in shaping the policies, systems, and supports offered to students receiving special education services so that these students are fully able to access the educational curriculum.

All meetings start at 7pm via Zoom. Links to meetings will be posted closer to the meeting date.
All SMFCSD parents are invited to SEDAC meetings and announcements are sent to all SMFCSD families via our mass communication system, SchoolMessenger, the week before the meeting. Messages are sent in English and Spanish, and via email, text and voice alerts.

Interested in getting involved? You are invited to join one of four SEDAC Work groups focused on improving SMFCSD's Special Education program. Descriptions of each group are below.

SUMMARY OF WORK GROUPS:
Inclusionary Practices
Work with the existing internal inclusion cohort made up of administrators, teachers and program specialists. Work will include creating a vision statement for inclusion practices, researching best practices and providing parent input and feedback.
Communication/Outreach
Work with the existing District Communications Committee to ensure continuity of communication and provide parent input/feedback.
Parent Education
Create parent training opportunities regarding parental rights and the IEP process, continue to work on a Special Education parent handbook and collaborate with the Communication/Outreach work group to create and share parent resources and other forums.
SEDAC Development
Continue to build the SEDAC and determine the needs of Special Education stakeholders. This group will also identify how SEDAC can support families, provide meaningful feedback to the Board of Trustees and work collaboratively with the District.

SELPA GOVERNING BOARD
SELPA Governing Board meetings are open to the public and are a resource for families of students receiving special education services.
