Sandbox - Turnbull
Project Status: Available
Project Overview
The preschool campus currently has two wooden sandboxes used by students during recess. These sandboxes have significantly deteriorated due to extensive use and now feature broken lids, stripped paint, and damaged lock-latches. To ensure a safe and enjoyable play environment, both sandboxes need to be completely rebuilt and refilled with sand.
The new sandboxes should include foldable lids with hinges, which can also function as seats, as depicted in Exhibit A. Additionally, each sandbox requires a secure lock to prevent neighborhood cats from accessing the sand.

Dimensions
- Sandboxes are extremely small and low, in ratio with the preschoolers' size.
- Side walls are 4 in. high
Materials
- The sandbox must be constructed out of wood
- There cannot be any screws or nails left sticking out, as it would pose a danger to preschoolers playing within the pit
Safety Concerns
- Utilization of saws and other sharp instruments
- Utilization of power tools, including power drills
- Exposure to fumes from oil-based paints, wood varnishes, and wood sealers
