Educational Waste Management Display - College Park

Project Status: Available

Project Overview

College Park is dedicated to managing waste effectively, particularly in the lunch court area where large amounts of waste are generated. The lunch court currently has a single large trash can corral, allowing supervisors to monitor and guide students in correctly sorting their waste into the appropriate categories (trash, recycling, compost).

College Park seeks to upgrade this rudimentary system by building an educational waste management display, inspired by the layout depicted in Exhibit A. This display system aims to instruct students on properly categorizing their waste into appropriate disposal categories. The design should include designated spaces for trash, recycling, compost, and liquid waste bins.

Additionally, the display system should have built in side tables to accommodate various ancillary items, such as a "share bin" for unwanted food items that students can take or leave, or an area to stack lunch trays. There should also be areas with pegs or hooks to hang trash pickers, as there is currently no proper storage area for these items on campus.

This display will serve as an interactive learning tool, promoting environmental awareness and responsible waste disposal practices among students.
