Mulching and Landscaping - Borel
Project Status: Available
Project Overview
The landscape surrounding the Orchestra Chamber needs to be mulched to match the rest of the campus, as shown in Exhibit A. Mulching offers numerous benefits, including weed control, nutrient enrichment for the soil, and insulation for plants from heavy rain. The area should be covered with 3 inches of mulch to ensure these benefits are realized. Additionally, planting various greenery would help create a more vibrant and welcoming environment for students. Coordination with the Borel Principal is recommended to discuss specific details and preferences.
In addition to these improvements, the retaining walls around the Orchestra Chamber are deteriorating and will need to be replaced, as shown in Exhibit B. Addressing this issue will ensure the structural integrity of the area and provide a safer, more aesthetically pleasing environment.
Suggestion: Adjacent to this area, a previous Eagle Project involved creating a rainwater collection system that channels water from the gutter down a stone pathway, as shown in Exhibit C. Implementing a similar rainwater collection system here would add character to the landscape and assist with irrigating the new plants.
