Public Participation

Regular Board Meetings and Board Study Sessions are held in person, with an option for the public to observe and participate in the meeting virtually.

  • In-Person - To comment on agenda and non-agenda items, members of the public attending in person should submit their speaker card to a Board member or the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services before Public Comment is called. If commenting on a non-agenda item, speaker cards must be submitted before Public Comment is announced. The Board President will introduce the item and call for speaker cards.
  • Virtual - Members of the public seeking to give public comment on a non-agenda item should click the raised hand icon before the Board President introduces the item and calls for speakers. When called upon, you will be unmuted.
  • Public Comment on Non-Agenda Items - The San Mateo-Foster City School Board legally cannot act upon any matter that has not been publicly posted on the agenda, except under limited circumstances. This means that Board members are unable to respond to questions raised via public comment. However, the Board may refer matters raised in this forum to staff for investigation and/or action where appropriate. Public comment is limited to 3 minutes per speaker.
