SMFCSD Needs Your Input!
Family and community engagement is one of our key goals. Several opportunities to get involved in SMFCSD through feedback or participation will end this week. Your opinions are important to us—they will help us shape the District’s future. Here are the opportunities for involvement all in one place!
Attend an LCAP Family Engagement Meeting
The Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a critical part of establishing the District’s key goals for the coming year and workshop sessions to gather parent input are being held over the next month. The next Family Engagement meeting is this Wednesday, February 26, from 6-8 pm, at Abbott Middle School, 600 36th Avenue, San Mateo. Translation and child care will be available. For additional meeting dates and locations, please see our flyer: LCAP Flyer English | LCAP Flyer Spanish
Complete the Facilities Master Plan Survey
As part of the district-wide facilities needs identification efforts happening now, we want to hear your thoughts about the needs of the buildings and grounds at your child's/children's school(s). Give us your input through this survey: English | Spanish by Friday, February 28, 2020. Full details of the effort to develop a district-wide Facilities Master Plan for the New Decade can be found in this News story on our website.
Help the Board of Trustees Name the New School in Foster City
The New Elementary School in Foster City will soon be a reality. The Board Policy for naming schools is that the names of elementary schools are generally a geographical location. With this as your guide, be creative and submit your suggestion via online form, or via paper nomination form from the District Office (1170 Chess Drive, Foster City, 650-312-7700). Submissions are due by Friday, February 28, 2020. For more details, please visit the New Elementary School in Foster City webpage.
Complete the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS)
Across the District, fifth- and seventh-grade students, and ALL SMFCSD parents and staff, were asked to complete the California Healthy Kids Survey. It is voluntary, but very important in helping guide the District and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports and improve student achievement. Survey links are specific to each school and audience, so please check your email/texts for your personal CHKS message received on Tuesday morning, February 18. This survey ends on Friday, February 28, 2020.
Become a Member of the Citizens’ Parcel Tax Oversight Committee
We’re seeking five community members for a Citizens’ Parcel Tax Oversight Committee. Please send in your application no later than Sunday, March 1, 2020 to Patrick Gaffney, Chief Business Official, by email, or in person at the District Office, 1170 Chess Drive, Foster City, CA 94404.
Education Vital Signs (EVS) Survey
Last, but not least, our entire community is asked to complete the Education Vital Signs (EVS) Survey. Approximately half of our schools completed this survey last month—thank you! The other half will be receiving their survey links, unique by school, on or about Thursday, March 12.
We thank you!
Each person’s voice is so important! We will create a better future when we collaborate, and your participation is essential. And as we go forward, we will continue to look for ways to streamline our communications to you.
Thank you for being part of our SMFCSD community.
