Transfer Request Process for the 2017-2018 School Year

NEW STUDENT TRANSFER REQUEST PROCESS

  • Parents new to the district must first register for their home school by completing the New Student Registration process.  After submitting a completed online InfoSnap registration form, parents will have the option to request a transfer at the time.  Parents may apply for up to 2 schools of choice. 
  • All applications received by the deadline of 12:00 pm (noon) on Friday, February 10, 2017 will be entered into the school/program lottery.  
  • Applications received after the deadline will automatically be wait listed.  Parents will be contacted if a seat becomes available at the requested school.  
  • Transfer requests are open to district-wide magnet schools (College Park, Fiesta Gardens, and the District Montessori Program) and all neighborhood schools.

TRANSFER REQUESTS—CURRENTLY ENROLLED SMFCSD STUDENTS

  • The InfoSnap Transfer Application Window opens at 12:00 pm (noon) on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.  Parents may apply for a transfer ANY TIME during the transfer period – January 17 – February 10, 2017 to be entered into the lottery. 
  • All applications received by the deadline of 12:00 pm (noon) on Friday, February 10, 2017 will be entered into the school/program lottery.
  • Applications received after the deadline will automatically be wait listed. 
  • Transfer approval or wait list notification emails will be sent out after 12:00 pm (noon) on Friday, March 10, 2017. 
  • Please note: in order for your request to be processed, you will need to enter your child’s student ID number in the transfer request form.  Please locate it well before the transfer window opens.  Student ID numbers can be found on report cards, student ID cards, and class schedules.  You can also contact your child’s school office to obtain it.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY TO COLLEGE PARK, FIESTA GARDENS, AND ABBOTT IMMERSION PROGRAMS?

  • If applying to College Park or Fiesta Gardens for grades 1-5, students will need to be assessed by a teacher and the Principal before being accepted into the program, Kindergarten-aged students do not need to be assessed.
  • Students applying to the Abbott Middle School Spanish immersion program and Bayside Academy 6-8 Mandarin immersion programs must have completed the elementary immersion program at Fiesta Gardens for Abbott and College Park for Bayside Academy 6-8.

TRANSFER NOTIFICATION AND WAIT LISTS

  • Transfers will only be granted if there is room in the school and grade level requested. 
  • Wait listed applicants will be contacted only if the transfer has been granted. 
  • Transfer requests expire on the first day of school; transfers will not be granted once school begins.
