priority entrance for those living within the boundary of the new school

Limited number of classrooms will be opened for the 2020-2021 school year

important information

  • Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year will be voluntary. Students who live within the boundary of the school are invited to apply (see boundary information to the right).  Students will be enrolled as long as the District’s desired class sizes are maintained. If there are more students than needed for the classes that have been planned for a particular grade level, then a lottery for that grade level will be held to determine who will be enrolled and who will be placed on a wait list for spaces that may open up.  Siblings of students enrolled in other grades in the new school will have priority in the lottery.  Scroll down for more information about how to apply to attend the New School.
  • The temporary location for the new school will be housed at Foster City Elementary School, which is at the corner of Beach Park and Edgewater Blvds.   Foster City School received the highest preference from parents/guardians for the temporary location.   The new school’s classes of students and their teachers, as well as the Principal and other support staff, will be relocated from their classrooms at the temporary location to the new school once it is ready for occupancy which, at this time, is projected to be between October 2020 and January 2021.
  • New Principal Announcement

There was great interest in the position of Principal of the New School in Foster City.  After three rigorous panel interviews, Mrs. Amy Snow was selected to move forward for Board approval.  We are pleased to inform you that the Board of Trustees accepted this selection at the December 19, 2019 Board meeting.

Mrs. Snow holds a Masters from San Diego State University, both Single Subject and Multiple Subject teaching credentials, and an Administrative Services credential.  She has been an elementary and middle school teacher at private and public schools. She has also served as an Instructional Coach in the area of English Language Arts, supporting classroom teachers in moving their practices forward in order to meet the needs of all students.

Most recently, Mrs. Snow has served as the Principal of Beresford Elementary School in the San Mateo–Foster City School District.  In that role, she worked with staff to improve student achievement, create a positive school climate and increase family engagement.  In the last couple of years, the Beresford team implemented a new language arts curriculum, a new math curriculum and incorporated new strategies to support English Learners.  Mrs. Snow was also instrumental in bringing Notre Dame de Namur University student teachers and professors to Beresford to create a lab school. She is known in the District for her student-centered approach, collaborative style and knowledge of research-based practices.

Mrs. Snow is excited to connect with the community and build the program.  She looks forward to meeting you and bringing together a staff.
