SMFCSD NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

Welcome to the San Mateo-Foster City School District (SMFCSD)!

We are excited to welcome you to our schools and help guide you through the process of registering your child.  The information on this page explains the process to register a new student for the 2022-2023 school year in grades TK-8.  New student registration for the 2022-2023 school year opened on December 13, 2021 at Noon.

 AGE & GRADE LEVEL ELIGIBILITY

For the 2022-2023 school year, students are eligible to enter:

  • Kindergarten if they have reached 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2022.
  • Transitional Kindergarten (TK) if they have reached 5 years of age on or between September 2, 2022 - February 2, 2023.
  • Students who turn 5 on or after February 3, 2023 are eligible to enter for the 2023-2024 school year.

THE STEPS TO REGISTER

STEP 1: Find your child’s school of assignment

STEP 2: Collect all required registration documents

  • Required registration documents must be complete and up-to-date in order to be accepted by the school office.

STEP 3: Complete and submit the New Student Registration Form

STEP 4: Submit all required registration documents to complete the new student registration  process

  • The office staff of the school of assignment will review and verify the required registration documents.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • If you have not previously used Aeries Registration to register a new student in the SMFCSD, you will need to create an Aeries Registration account.
    •  Please use the Create New Account option when prompted in the registration form if you have not previously registered a student using Aeries Registration.
    • If you have an Aeries Parent Portal account for a currently enrolled SMFCSD student, that account information will not log you in to Aeries Registration.
  • Foster City residents within the boundary of Beach Park Elementary: click here for information about registration.
  • The Priority Registration window is Monday, December 13, 2021 at 12:00 pm (noon) through Friday, January 28, 2022 at 12:00 pm (noon).
  • School sites will continue to accept new student registrations after Priority Registration has ended on January 28. Those registrations are not considered to have priority.
  • Registration is considered complete only after you have completed document verification in Step #4.
  • Step #4 must be completed by 12:00 pm (noon) on Friday, January 28 in order to be considered within priority.
  • The Aeries online registration form can be completed on any internet-enabled device (cell phone, tablet, laptop, computer).
  • If your school of assignment does not have a TK program, your child will be placed at a school that does for their TK year and then return to their school of assignment for Kindergarten the following school year.
  • Do not fill out the 2022-2023 new student registration form if your child is currently enrolled and attending school (2021-2022) in the SMFCSD in grades TK-8.

 Expansion of Universal TK in California, Assembly Bill (AB) 130

  • From the 2014–15 school year to the 2021–22 school year, inclusive, a child who will have their fifth birthday between September 2 and December 2 shall be admitted to a transitional kindergarten program maintained by the school district or charter school.

  • In the 2022–23 school year, a child who will have their fifth birthday between September 2 and February 2 shall be admitted to a transitional kindergarten program maintained by the school district or charter school.

  • In the 2023–24 school year, a child who will have their fifth birthday between September 2 and April 2 shall be admitted to a transitional kindergarten program maintained by the school district or charter school.

  • In the 2024–25 school year, a child who will have their fifth birthday between September 2 and June 2 shall be admitted to a transitional kindergarten program maintained by the school district or charter school.

  • In the 2025–26 school year, and in each school year thereafter, a child who will have their fourth birthday by September 1 shall be admitted to a transitional kindergarten program maintained by the school district or charter school.
