WELCOME

Welcome to the San Mateo-Foster City School District (SMFCSD). We are excited to welcome you to our schools and help guide you through the process of registering your child for the 2018-2019  school year.  

GETTING STARTED

All students are assigned to a school based on their home address. To find your child’s school of assignment, visit our District website School Assignment page.

Residency - Students must be physically living with their parent/guardian within district boundaries at the time of registration (BP 5111/Education Code 48200).  Ownership of real property within the district does not in and of itself constitute residency.

Transfers - Parents who would like their child to attend a school other than their assigned school can go through the transfer process. AGE & GRADE LEVEL ELIGIBILITY

  • Kindergarten: Children entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old by September 1, 2018.
  • Transitional Kindergarten (TK):  Children entering Transitional Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or between September 2 – December 2, 2018.

  • Students who do not turn 5 by December 2, 2013 are not eligible to enroll in the District for the 2018-2019 school year.

HOW DO I REGISTER MY KINDERGARTEN & TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN AGED CHILD?

The Priority Registration Period for the 2018-2019 school year begins Monday, December 4, 2017 and ends Thursday, December 21, 2017.  First, parents/guardians go to their school of assignment in November 2017 (see “Key Dates”) to submit all required registration documents and have their address verified.  Once all required registration documents have been verified, parents/guardians will be given a unique 15-character code, called a snapcode.  Parents/guardians will then use their snapcode to access and complete the online InfoSnap new student registration form at home.  The online registration form can be completed on any internet-enabled device.  Registration is considered complete only after you have entered and submitted all information into InfoSnap.  Please note:  the snapcode is unique to each child, and it is the expectation that all families are responsible for recording and remembering each child's snap code.

Families need to check their school of assignment's website for site-specific information regarding the days and times for address verification and issuing snapcodes.  All required registration documents must be received and verified by the school before receiving a snapcode to complete registration or apply for a transfer online.

WHEN AND WHERE DO I REGISTER MY KINDERGARTEN & TK CHILD?

Registration for all new Kindergarten & TK students begins in November at each school of assignment.  Document verification days and times are scheduled by each individual elementary school, so please check your school's website for specific times and requirements.

WHICH SCHOOLS HAVE A TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK) PROGRAM?

The following schools have a Transitional Kindergarten program – Audubon, Baywood, Brewer Island, Foster City, George Hall, Highlands, Laurel, LEAD, Meadow Heights, Parkside Montessori (transfer lottery only), San Mateo Park & Sunnybrae. If your neighborhood school does not have a TK program, your child will be placed at a school that does for their TK year and then return to their neighborhood school for Kindergarten.

HOW DO I REGISTER MY CHILD FOR 1ST - 8TH GRADE?

Families need to check their school of assignment website for registration hours, days, and additional information.  Schools will be accepting new student registrations, grades 1-8, starting on November 15, 2017.  Document verification days and times are scheduled by each individual school, so please check your school's website for specific times and requirements.  All required registration documents must be received and verified by the school of assignment before receiving a snapcode to complete and submit the InfoSnap new student registration registration form or apply for a transfer online.

WHAT IF I WANT MY CHILD TO ATTEND A DISTRICT-WIDE MAGNET SCHOOL WITH THEIR SIBLING?

District-wide magnet schools (College Park, Fiesta Gardens, North Shoreview Montessori & Parkside Montessori) will not be taking registration at their school sites.  You must first register your incoming student at their school of assignment and then apply for a transfer, requesting sibling preference, to attend the magnet school by December 21, 2017.
