The SMFCSD Reopening Health and Safety Handbook, 2020-2021, dated December 18, 2020 was distributed to all SMFCSD staff and families on Monday, December 21. At their meeting on Thursday, December 9, 2020, the School Board Trustees determined that reopening in the Hybrid Model for elementary and SDC students should occur after San Mateo County returns to the Red Tier under the Governor's Blueprint for a Safer Economy. california's regional Stay-at-Home Order, San Mateo County and the impact on schools, december 4, 2020
In a joint press release on Friday, December 4, the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) and San Mateo County Health (SMCH) explain the impact on schools of the Governor’s recent announcement of regional stay-at-home restrictions. Please review the full joint press release.
On November 16, 2020, SMFCSD received approval of our Reopening Plan (English | Spanish) from SMCOE and SMCH. In accordance with the requirements outlined in the press release (above) and the Governor’s order, on Thursday, December 3, SMFCSD submitted a Waiver Request to open in Hybrid Learning on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, beginning with TK-1 and SDC students, as outlined in the Reopening Plan. As of December 7, 2020, this Waiver Request is under review by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH); the District will update our Reopening Plan in response to any comments that result from their review.
